TWIN HEART

We leave no heart behind.

Is all about the lives we can save

Six million Heart Failure patients and their dear ones wait each year for a heart saving solution.

Hope to the 99.8% of advance heart failure patients who don’t receive a heart transplant or long term mechanical circulatory support. It's a powerful solution that instantly revitalizes a patient’s quality of life, offering a future full of possibility.

  • Product

TwinHeart is a minimally invasive, fully implantable, magnetically levitated partial-support LVAD designed to assist the native left ventricle without replacing it. Using a miniature centrifugal pump with magnetic levitation, it provides 2–4 L/min of flow to unload the heart while preserving natural pulsatility. Powered and controlled wirelessly via a transcutaneous energy transfer (TET) system, TwinHeart eliminates driveline infections and enables full patient mobility, offering a safer, more comfortable, and durable long-term therapy for advanced heart failure.

  • Cardiologist Statements

"The introduction of this technology would be transformative. It provides us with a viable option for patients who present too late for traditional therapies, offering a critical, life-saving intervention that is both less invasive and more cost-effective. "

  • Intervention

TwinHeart is implantable in a pacemaker fashion in a subcutaneous pocket with the outflow anastomosed to the subclavian artery and the inflow trans catheter anchored transseptal to the left atria.
No open heart surgery, no total anesthesia. The patient returns to his bed after 30 minutes intervention and back home next day.

Why?

Advanced Heart Failure

Patients with advanced heart failure experience severe symptoms even at rest, often requiring life-saving interventions such as transplantation or mechanical circulatory support.

How?

The device

The device functions as a two-part electromechanical system. The internal component is implanted, while the external component remains on the skin, delivering energy wirelessly. This design eliminates percutaneous wires, thereby preventing skin injury and mitigating infection risk.

The device is under development - not market ready!

When?

The medical team

The TwinHeart implantation team works like a pacemaker team, not a cardiac surgery unit. An interventional cardiologist and cardiac surgeon implant the device through small incisions under imaging guidance, supported by anesthesiology and technical staff. This minimally invasive approach avoids sternotomy and bypass, enabling fast, safe, pacemaker-style implantation.

Our mission at Cardiovascular Engineering is to transform heart-failure care by offering minimally invasive, fully implantable, and universally adaptable artificial heart technologies that make advanced treatment safer, more natural, and within everyone’s reach.
